Isabelle decided she wanted to ride her tricycle after her nap, so Jason took her outside while I finished dinner. She's only recently been tall enough and strong enough to push the pedals on her own and ride a reasonable distance without being pushed, so I was happy for her when Jason sent me a text saying that for the first time, she had just ridden all the way to the playground down the hill from our house.
I assumed the park was their final destination and they were playing in the sand or swinging, until my phone beeped again almost 40 minutes later - and I got another text from Jason saying, "You may have to come get us. She just keeps riding. " I asked where they were, and it turns out she just kept pedaling south on Village Run.
Sure enough, a little while later he asked me to come pick them up. I jumped in the car and turned on the trip calculator before I backed out of the driveway, to see how far she'd ridden, and I picked them up .30 miles from the house!
Needless to say, our little cyclist has worked up quite an appetite...
