Early Mother's Day Celebration

Today some female co-workers and I attended The Parent Connection's annual Spring Fantasy Luncheon. The Parent Connection is an association made up of San Diego residents--mostly moms--designed to "connect" parents seeking playgroups, child care and a variety of child services. Every year they have a couple of fundraisers, such as the twice-annual swap meet where parents buy booths and sell their used baby and children's items.

Today's luncheon event was a celebration of moms held at the Estancia Spa & Hotel in La Jolla. For a $40 ticket, attendees were treated to free spa services (manicures, chair massages, hair styling, and makeup application); hors d'oeuvres and wine; and a nice three-course lunch. There was also a silent and live auction for dozens of items ranging from free family photography to overnight stays at local hotels.

I didn't win the raffle prize I was hoping for, which was a $250 mall gift card, but I left feeling well fed and happy to have had some girl time outside of the house!

What a good idea. Sounds like a neat event.
