A story I've been trying to coordinate for a couple of weeks was filmed earlier this week at one of our hospitals, and it aired yesterday on our local NBC station - click here to watch it.
May is national stroke awareness month, and we wanted to increase awareness of our stroke capabilities. Our new neurosurgeon is trained to perform minimally-invavise, neurointerventional procedures such as aneurysm coiling. He performed the coiling procedure on the patient shown in the video, and successfully treated the aneurysm (which would have resulted in a hemorrhagic stroke had it burst).
It was nice to see our efforts pay off!

Wahoo! Congrats. I didn't realize you were doing media relations. That's my favorite part of PR.
Well, I'm not necessarily "doing" media relations, at least not frequently. Our job descriptions are a little fuzzy in that we all end up doing a little bit of everything, and for certain services lines that I manage (like neurology and neurosurgery) I'll often end up managing the media piece if any opportunities come our way, since I know the docs and their services so well...
