There is a reason I've chosen to get Isabelle vaccinated - because diseases like measles, mumps, and rubella can kill children. And also because I believe medical decisions should occur after a conversation with a licensed medical professional - not from quasi-celebrities like Jenny McCarthy, i.e. the chick who used to host a game show on MTV called "Singled Out," who has appeared on countless news programs over the last couple of years asserting that parents should not vaccinate their children because vaccines can cause autism. (Incidentally, Ms. McCarthy has recently announced that she has "cured" her son's autism through strict modifications of his diet).
I've been following the news about this British "researcher" who originally published the scientific study claiming a link between vaccines and autism. And for anyone who has ever looked at me sideways for risking my daughter's health via her infant immunizations, this is a good editorial by noted bioethicist Arthur Caplan:
How a zealot’s word led us astray on autism
Opinion: Tiny, flawed vaccine study a case study in biased medicine

Thank you thank you thank you for being a level headed mom. I have been facilitating interviews regarding this topic all week. The damage Wakefield did is horrid and can never be undone.
