Girls Weekend

Jason is returning home today after a week-long work trip, which makes me happy because it's easier to get things done around the house when there is a second parent to help! However, despite the extra work I have to manage whenever Jason is traveling, Isabelle and I had a very enjoyable week together (even despite some inclement weather).

I took Friday off so we could come and go at our leisure - I normally work from home on Fridays, but that makes for a very long day because I'm tied to my laptop when I'm not taking care of Isabelle, and being "on the clock" means we're trapped in the house. My plan was to take Isabelle to breakfast, and then after her first nap of the day we'd go to the dog park so she could watch all the dogs running around - she LOVES dogs, every time she sees one she points and yells "Duh!!"

We did visit the Pancake House and shared a nice meal together, but as we drove home I noticed the sky getting quite dark. Sure enough, it started raining about an hour later and didn't stop until late Saturday night!

So we never made it to the park this weekend, but we were able to escape to Target and the grocery store, as well as another breakfast out at a local diner in downtown Encinitas yesterday morning. We didn't have as many excursions as I would have liked but we had fun playing with her toys and watching old Friends reruns (Isabelle likes to dance to the theme song).

I'll have another long weekend with her this coming weekend as our daycare is closed Friday and Monday for the Presidents Day holiday (I had never experienced this in Michigan, but in California most businesses are closed on Presidents Day. Weird!). Anyway, I'll work from home Friday as normal, but may end up taking Monday off since we get docked 8 hours of PTO for it anyway...

President's Day is a holiday? Interesting. Do you get flag day off?

I think it is very funny Iz likes to watch Friends. She must like it because her daddy looks like one of the characters:)
