We had our tour of the labor and delivery unit at the hospital yesterday. The most valuable part was learning where we need to check in once I go into labor - it's pretty standard during the day, but there's a special process for getting clearance into the building during the middle of the night - and getting the paperwork we need to pre-register at the hospital in order to speed up the admission process.
The downside was the tour guide - the most. annoying. woman. ever.
Jason and I are PRAYING that she's not teaching our childbirth classes. She talked to us all like we were kindergartners. When I added our names to the sign-in sheet, she chastised me for signing mine and Jason's names on one line - apparently I was supposed to sign my name on one line and Jason's name on the second line. At one point she asked Jason and I if we had noticed how big the moon was the night before, because she could have sworn it was just a sliver and so she couldn't understand why the childbirth center was completely full (that usually only happens during full moons, you see). And none of the women were allowed to stand - when we went from the women's center lobby, to the labor/delivery/recovery room, and then to the room where we stay overnight after recovery, she would put her hands on our shoulders and steer us into a sitting position. It was pretty comical to see six large pregnant women smashed together on the tiny bed in the LDR room, surrounded by a circle of standing men. I kept catching Jason's eye and trying not to laugh.
After the hospital tour, we met up with Bubby and Sherry downtown and caught part of the San Diego Film Festival. We saw a series of short films and a feature film called The Brothers Bloom, which hasn't been released yet but apparently won a bunch of awards at the Toronto Film Festival. It starred Adrien Brody, Rachel Weisz, Mark Ruffalo, and the Japanese actress who played the deaf girl in the movie Babel. I thought the movie was cute and quirky.

Full moon jokes are so old!
The sad thing is, she wasn't joking - she was serious!
You should have asked her why she was asking you if you had seen the moon the night before as she should have seen it first hand when she rode by it on her broom!!
