Fun in the sun... and the shade

Now that we live in Encinitas, we need to take advantage of living five minutes from the beach by spending more time there. But as pale as I am, it's hard to justify spending several hours laying in the sun because if I don't reapply sunscreen every hour, I burn. And I hate having to reapply sunscreen.

So last weekend we bought a canopy - like an enormous beach umbrella with four poles - to take with us to the beach. It's collapsible and rolls up like a tent, and is on wheels so it's easy to transport. Now we can spend all day at the beach if we want to because we'll have plenty of shade to protect us from the sun. And once the baby is old enough to go to the beach, we won't have to worry about him/her burning.

We haven't had a chance to put it up yet - hopefully this weekend we'll get a chance to try it out at Moonlight Beach!

Wow. Who knew? My grandma used to have an umbrella. It would always fly away on us and we would have to chase it down.

you sound like me, I actually used to really like sitting on the beach at lake superior but the sun would get to me.......when I bought a big umbrella to stick in the sand it made a huge difference, now I can sit in the shade of the trees at the lake
