A productive but relaxing weekend

As usual our weekend went by too fast, but it was nice while it lasted. We stayed in Friday night, opting to cook our own dinner and save some money, but escaped long enough to go out for ice cream.

Jason got up early Saturday and went in to work, so after sleeping in a little I had a quiet breakfast at Panera, sipping a (decaf) cappuccino while reading my new book. Then I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond to buy a tablecloth for our dining room table. Our new dark dining room chairs do not match the light table, but we figured we could disguise this by hiding the table under a tablecloth – a solution that only cost $14.99! I met Jason for lunch at 1:00, and sadly by the time I got home at 2:30 I was so tired that I took a 90-minute nap on the couch.

Saturday night we ventured into downtown Encinitas and picked an Italian restaurant, Vigilucci’s, at random. We had a great meal and great service, and at the end of the meal every female patron gets a fresh, long-stemmed rose! I thought that was a charming touch.

Yesterday we spent a couple of hours at Moonlight Beach; we need to start taking advantage of our proximity to the water now that we’re only three miles away! It was very crowded but worth it; it was an absolutely gorgeous day, not too hot but not too cool despite the strong ocean breeze.

Once we got home and cleaned up, we ran our errands and then did some more unpacking and organizing. And before we knew it, it was after 10:00 and Monday morning was breathing down our necks…
