More snafus

It’s Wednesday, and we don’t have home internet after all. Time Warner showed up as promised on Monday, but told us that the wiring in the house is too old for them to install high-speed cable internet – we “wouldn’t meet industry standards.” They’d have to rewire the house, but now that we live in a condo we’d have to get approval from the Home Owners Association to do so. And unfortunately Time Warner doesn’t offer DSL, so we were forced to call AT&T again…. supposedly we’ll have DSL on Monday.

IKEA was scheduled to deliver new furniture yesterday to replace the damaged pieces they delivered last Friday. They told us they’d show up between 8:00 – 12:00, so I planned to go into work late after IKEA came. But they didn’t arrive until almost 3:00! So I had to work from home without the benefit of the internet, which meant that I had to do all my emailing on my tiny Blackberry. What a pain! But after Jason called IKEA and chewed them out, they promised to refund our original delivery fee.

The good news is, we have started to meet the neighbors! It feels like we live in a small town because everyone we’ve met already knew I was expecting! On Friday afternoon, one of the neighbors dropped by to introduce herself – I wasn’t there, but Jason talked to her for a while. Later that day, the former tenant stopped by to introduce himself and ask if we want one more of their baby gates they had previously installed in our unit. And yesterday, as I was leaving to run errands, I met the immediate next-door neighbor and another woman who lives on the street. They both are moms with young kids, and said that it’s a great, family-friendly neighborhood.

Much different than the scary downstairs neighbors we had in our old apartment complex!

OH! I am so excited that your neighbors seem social and nice. I have loved that we have amazing neighbors! Hopefully you can connect with those young moms so you have a nice mommy network!

So sorry about the snafus but what icing on the cake to be part of such a great community.
