MIA

I’ve been absent from the blog scene for the last week due to many hours of packing, moving, unpacking, and getting settled into our new place – not to mention that our internet was not hooked up on Friday as originally planned, and so we haven’t had internet at home.

The movers showed up at 8:00 on the dot Friday, and because the moving company only sent two men instead of three, they didn’t finish loading their truck until after 1:00. And unfortunately it was hot – the poor guys were definitely earning their money. Meanwhile, Jason was at the new place waiting for AT&T and IKEA.

We were angry – but not surprised – when AT&T failed to show up. This was after Jason called that morning to confirm our 2:00 appointment, and then called again in the afternoon and was assured that we were on the schedule but our service tech was running late. By the time the tech was three hours late, Jason called AT&T again…and after 30 minutes of being transferred from person to person, was told that they couldn’t understand why we kept calling because we weren’t scheduled for hook-up until the 25th. When they said we’d have to wait a full week for our cable, internet, and phone, Jason told them to go to hell and called Time Warner. They were able to match the package we were offered by AT&T and will be sending someone out to hook everything up at 4:30 today.

Our IKEA furniture arrived on time, but when we opened everything on Saturday to begin assembly, we realized two of our pieces had extensive damage. So IKEA is sending their delivery truck back out to our place tomorrow morning to swap out the damaged items.

The movers didn’t finish unloading all of our stuff until almost 6:00 p.m., and then we had to run back to our old apartment and finishing cleaning before the power was shut off at midnight. Needless to say it was a long day, and a long weekend. But we are definitely making progress, one box at a time…

I’ll post photos this week!

Yikes. I'm considering dumping Comcast for ATT. Maybe I should reconsider.
