Cheap, Swedish Furniture

We're taking a trip to IKEA this afternoon to buy a new computer desk and some dining room chairs. We are in desperate need of both, because our current desk is about 10 years old and made of particle board, and our dining room chairs - which I assembled myself about four years ago - have started coming apart. Last Labor Day weekend, one of the chairs collapsed when Bubby sat on it and so we're down to only three chairs.

We found this great corner workstation at IKEA last weekend and decided that we'll order it and have it delivered the day we move into the new condo (next Friday).

These chairs don't match our current dining room table at all, but I'm going to buy a tablecloth and cover it up so you can't tell. We decided it would be much cheaper to just replace the chairs with some more inexpensive ones that will last for a couple of years, because we just can't afford an expensive dining room set right now. But they'll match the dark wood of our living room furniture, so it will help tie together with the few nice pieces we have. These chairs actually look pretty nice with the dark wood and microsuede seats.

Yesterday afternoon we met our new landlord at the condo and did a final walk-through with her. The former tenants hadn't cleaned and left a lot of scuff marks on the walls, and she wanted to get our opinion on new paint, etc. She is hiring a cleaning woman to come in over the next couple of days and get it ready for us, and painters to come in and go over all the walls with some new, neutral paint in the living room, hallway, and upstairs bedrooms.

I really like the design of the desk and all the built in shelves for storage.....
