The big announcement

We've spent the last couple of weeks calling and e-mailing our friends and family to let them know our big news - we have a baby on the way! I'm now 16 weeks pregnant, and the baby is due on Thanksgiving day. Below is the image from our first ultrasound, when the baby was between 9 and 10 weeks old.

Part of the reason we were so glad to find our new condo in Encinitas is because it has three bedrooms, which we will definitely need come November. The current tenants have a baby, and we found out this week that they are going to leave all their "baby-proofing" items in place for us - apparently they hired a professional to come in and babyproof the home, and they can't take it all with them. Some of the things we saw when touring the condo were the standard cupboard latches, baby gates, and a plastic sort of netting that covered the second floor stair railing, so the baby can't slip between the bars and fall down the staircase.

We're happy to take it all - one less thing for us to do!
