Good food, good company

Jason's mom, Margaret, is in town this week so we took her and Bubby out to dinner last night at a downtown restaurant called Chive. They serve global cuisine on small plates, basically sample sizes you share with the rest of the table (just like tapas). We shared eight plates, including seared ahi, vietnamese meatballs, stuffed chicken with a sort of middle eastern black rice, and a seared salmon and jicama flatbread.

Our favorite entree was a japanese beef sliced very thin that was served with an extremely hot stone - the meat was served raw with spices, oil, lime wedges, and dipping sauce on the side. We had to spread oil on the stone and "grill" it ourselves, which was kind of fun (if only for the novelty).

We ended the meal with warm banana spring rolls and a chocolate and hazelnet torte. MMMmmm!!!
