Travel Hazard?
Jason saw a segment about bridge safety on last night's news, which reported that out of the hundreds of bridges in San Diego county, the worst rated and most dilapidated bridge is the one I drive over every day during my commute.
The North Torrey Pines bridge links the city of Del Mar to the Torrey Pines area of La Jolla. Built 75 years ago, it's one of the few remaining concrete bridges left in California. I could take the freeway to work and avoid the bridge, but it's actually faster for me to bail off the freeway in the morning and take the scenic route along the ocean (my hospital is about two miles from where this photo is shot). The California Department of Transportation says the bridge is safe for cars to pass over, but it probably wouldn't withstand an earthquake. Which is a bit unsettling considering we live in southern California. The good news? Caltrans and the city of Del Mar have approved a plan to completely replace the bridge. The bad news? Repairs won't begin for another two years.

OK - I would rather take the scenic route myself but would feel better if you would take the safer route.......
