Getting Back to Normal

Our weekend was not very exciting, but we'd both had enough excitement during the week to make up for it. I came home Friday night and cleaned our apartment. A bit of ash had blown inside and was piling up in the entryway, so the floor and walls around our front door were pretty dirty. So I vacuumed and scrubbed and lit a bunch of Glade candles, and now it feels good as new. I was asleep by about 11:00 p.m. Friday night, and slept until 12:10 the following afternoon! I don't think I've had a snooze like that since college.
Saturday we drove to San Marcos in the hopes of finding a new coffee table to match our new couch and loveseat (insert jokes about being an old married couple here). We live right off of Interstate 15, and we'd only traveled about 3 miles when we saw all the scorched hillsides where the Rancho Bernardo fire had jumped the freeway. It was amazing to see the black earth and shriveled trees that were only a few feet in front of houses that were still standing, untouched by the fire. The firefighters did an amazing job.

We found a great coffee table: see below. It has slots for magazines and books, and drawers to hold our remote controls, coasters, etc. I can't wait for it to be delivered!

Very Cute! Take a photo when it is set up in your living room. I wonder how the old rattan furniture is doing now that we have both moved on? If furniture could talk :)

It almost looks like Phoebe Buffay's apothecary table from the days of your!

Ha ha, I forgot about the apothecary table! Our table is not from Pottery Barn, meaning if we try to pass it off as an antique, no one will accidentally see it in a mall display!
