It's official, Jason and I purchased our airline tickets for Italy!
We're leaving San Diego on Friday, June 21, with a quick stopover at LAX and then a direct flight to Rome, where we'll land just after noon their time on Saturday. We'll spend a few days in Rome before traveling by train to a small village just outside Orvieto, where Jason's good friend Ben is getting married. We'll meet up with other friends for the wedding, then likely go our separate ways as we traverse more of the country.
Other stops during our two-week trip will include Siena, Florence and Venice. We'll actually fly out of Venice to return home Friday, July 5.
Next step in our planning is finding lodging in each city, and started to map out which attractions are must-see (like the Colosseum, Vatican... shopping...). We'll actually be in Italy during Jason's birthday, so we'll have to plan on some kind of over-the-top dinner or something that night!
I'm still trying to convince him that we need to see an opera in Verona, but he's being stubborn...

SO jealous of your trip!!
A friend at work (who happens to live in SD) just went to Italy for a friends wedding and they did a bunch of sight seeing. If you'd like, I'll ask him for details / recommendations on where they stayed, sights, etc.
