Sono una studentessa l'italiano

Jason and I will be taking a trip to Italy in June, and I thought it would be fun to take some Italian lessons prior to going. I don't think it's absolutely necessary to learn the language, as I've heard most people in Italy also speak English, but I'd like to learn some basic communication skills like reading signs, counting money, etc.

I'm taking a class through the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) "extension" program, which is basically adult continuing education. I've taken other courses there such as short story writing; they're reasonably priced and located just around the corner from my office.

The class started on October 1 and takes place every Monday evening through mid-December. If I like it, I believe Part 2 will be offered starting in January.

So far I've learned the Italian alphabet; how to count to one hundred; how to greet people and ask how they're doing; etc. I'll be honest, it's not easy to switch gears after a long day of work and begin reading, speaking and thinking in a brand new language, but I'm enjoying myself and it's fun to use my brain in a different way!

I can string together a basic introduction of myself (which makes me feel like I'm learning to read and write in elementary school all over again!).

Buona sera, mi chiamo Tania Masherah. Sono di Carlsbad, California. Ho trentaquattro anni e sono una studentessa l'italiano. Ho una sorella e una fratello. Mi piace viaggiare, la musica e la biblioteca.
