Our little Picasso

Isabelle is in her second month of preschool, and judging by the pattern so far it appears that each month in her art class she learns about a famous artist. She has art for 30 minutes daily and they get to play with all kinds of different mediums, ranging from pastels and chalk to clay, paint, markers, and colored friction tape.

This month they've been learning about Picasso and have spent the last couple of weeks creating their own version of his 1932 painting "Asleep." Her painting finally dried and she was proud to bring it home today. Below is the real thing, followed by Isabelle's version. Not bad for a three-year-old!

Her art teacher has a quote by Picasso hanging in her classroom that I really like: "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."
