Welcome Miss Olivia!

I assume most people have already heard the big news, but still wanted to formally announce the birth of Olivia Marie, born Saturday, January 14 at 11:20 p.m. Olivia is not a fragile newborn - she entered the world weighing a sturdy 9 pounds, 4 ounces, and at 21 and 1/4 inches long she is already freakishly strong for being only four days old. At her well baby check-up this morning, the pediatrician put Olivia on her tummy to check her back and she lifted her head right up in the air and looked at me! Not surprisingly she is in the 91st percentile for size compared to other babies her age.

Isabelle is fascinated with the baby. She is proud to be a big sister and comes looking for Olivia the minute she wakes up or comes home from daycare. She doesn't quite understand that the baby can't play with her - she keeps showing her toys and likes to pet Olivia like a dog whenever she has the chance - so she may grow bored as reality sinks in... newborns don't do much except sleep, eat, and cry. Basically she is as gentle with her as you'd expect a very rambunctious three-year-old to be, but we're going to have to have eyes in the backs of our heads because I know the second she gets a chance she's going to try and pick Olivia up by herself!

Welcome, Olivia! I can so see Isabelle wanting to see her right away in the morning. It's like she's a new toy or something. They have so many fun times to come together as sisters.

Avery picked Lil up twice. The best advice I have ( other than not taking your eyes off of them...which is impossible) is *when* it happens, just stay calm...you don't want her to get scared.
