Christmas 2011

Christmas morning dawned bright and early - 6:45 a.m. - after Isabelle burst through our door, came running up to my side of the the bed, and said something along the lines of "Who put all those presents downstairs?!" (Our second floor has sort of a balcony overlook onto a portion of the first floor, where the Christmas tree just happened to be in birds-eye view).

We Skyped with my family for part of our gift exchange, so they could see Isabelle open their presents. Her first gift, from Grandma and Grandpa Koski, was definitely the hit of the day. They got her a "Fresh Market Kitchen" which is sort of a combination kitchen and grocery store set complete with stove, refrigerator, microwave, all kinds of fake food and miniature utensils and cooking supplies, along with an environmentally friendly, reusable grocery bag and working cash register / scanner. She has been playing with it non-stop!

Another highlight of the day - my new Nook Color! I have a couple of "real" books to get through and then I'm excited to begin downloading some e-books!

The rest of the day was fairly uneventful - in a good way. Isabelle and I are both sick with head colds, so I *tried* to nap while she napped, but unfortunately my inability to breathe is causing an inability to sleep - no matter how tired I am.

Around 5:00 we were joined for Christmas dinner by our friend Bubby and his girlfriend, Sherrie, at which point we stuffed ourselves silly.

I couldn't resist sharing - one of our gifts from Isabelle was a homemade photo album that our daycare ladies put together, with a picture of Isabelle on the front cover:

Of course she looks adorable, and I can't help smiling to myself because somehow she ended up with a hair color that a lot of women around here pay top dollar to achieve :-)
