Ever since the sink hole opened up outside our office Thursday morning, our normal work patterns have been disrupted but thankfully it could be worse.
This is a pretty good local news clip with some aerial footage of the sink hole; click here if you're interested.
Friday most employees from the various companies in our office park stayed home or worked remotely, so traffic was not as bad as it should have been. The city installed some above-ground pipes all along our buildings so water was turned back on late Friday morning (yay for working toilets!) but as of today we are still under a boil water advisory and can't use the water for drinking, making coffee, etc. Instead we have cases of bottled water stacked up in the hallways.
My office was supposed to be relocated Friday afternoon but it was canceled because they can't bring in the heavy moving trucks for fear their weight will cause further damage, so my colleagues and I are working in completely bare offices surrounded by cardboard boxes! It's actually kind of funny, I have spent the last several weeks of my life in various stages of packing and unpacking - both personally and professionally!
As of right now the city is still trying to repair the damage from the sink hole, but it sounds like the size of it has been contained - which is a good start!
