So far, so good

As 2010 came to a close, I remember thinking that I'd never heard so many people collectively say they were happy for a year to end and a new one to begin. It seemed that 2010 was a really tough year for a lot of people.

There is a lot of positive energy in the air lately - on an almost weekly basis since 2011 began, I've received a lot of great news from a lot of people in my life, in addition to the good things that are upcoming for several of my friends:

• My friends Brooke and Alison are both due with their first child in April.
• My friend Sligh from college is going to be a dad for the first time in August.
• Another really good friend of mine is pregnant with her first, but I'm not at liberty to say her name just yet in case there are still people she needs to tell :-)
• My friend Cindy relocated to Baltimore to start a new job at the university she's had her eye on for quite a while, as it has a PhD program she wants to enroll in
• My friend Janine and her husband Curt recently moved into their brand new house
• My friend Kim just found out she's getting a major promotion at work
• My friend Anne is *this close* to finishing her Masters degree (in June)

And personally, Jason and I were fortunate to spend time with friends from Michigan last weekend; Amy, Shaphan, Caleb and Ben flew in for a long weekend that involved some shopping, bar hopping, and watching the Oscars!
