At least she was polite about it

I took Isabelle to the playground this morning, and she was happily playing in the sand with a bucket and shovel ("making cakes") when out of the corner of my eye, I saw a little boy about her age inching closer and closer to us. He didn't have any toys and I could tell he wanted to play with ours.

So I said to Isabelle, "Look, the little boy wants to play with you! Can you share your toys with him?"

She paused, looked up at him, then said "No thank you" and continued filling her bucket.

Isabelle eventually let him play alongside her, but she didn't take her eye off him. Every time he tried to pick up her red shovel, she'd gently remove it from his reach and hand him something else...

Ha! I guess she's protective of her red toys like she was of the red chair this summer.
