Isabelle's 18-month check-up was this morning, and her crazy growth spurt has finally leveled off, at least temporarily. She's now 24 pounds and 33 inches tall, which is considered the 45th percentile for weight and the 76th percentile for height.
She checked out great, which was no surprise - Isabelle has always been a good eater and a good sleeper, and developmentally she's on track with her motor skills (and those who have met her know that she's scary smart!).
Our regular pediatrician is out on maternity leave, so we saw the doctor who was covering for her. He was going through her health history and all her developmental milestones, and asked if she has started trying to spoon-feed herself yet. I replied by saying, "My husband and I are no longer allowed to feed her, if that answers you're question." He roared with laughter and said, "Oh, you have one of THOSE babies!"
Which is true. Last time I tried to put a spoonful of food in her mouth she screeched and batted at me, then grabbed the spoon out of my hand. Let's just say we're not looking forward to the Terrible Twos!

Brady is like that already with feeding. I haven't fed him with a spoon since he was 10 months. He insisted on using his fingers and now he "eats" with his spoon, too. More scrapping food around on his tray hoping that some sticks and then he gets really excited when he uses the spoon to get it in his mouth. So excited for our little fries to meet!
"All by myself" must be on your horizon!

Trust me, Anne, we've already entered the "I want to do it all by myself!" phase. She wants to do EVERYTHING by herself.
Please tell Isabelle that she can certainly do things by herself but she must cease any independance when coming to Michigan. Aunt Kim and Aunt Anne want some quality time with her:)
