Belated Valentine's Day present

I got home from work on Monday and discovered a very large box on the bed in our guest room - it was a Valentine's Day gift from Jason that had arrived a week late.

Because the box said "Bridal Keepsafe" in large letters, I knew immediately what it was: Jason had gotten my wedding dress and veil cleaned and preserved. I guess I must not be a very sentimental person because a lot of brides immediately clean and preserve their gowns. Mine was folded haphazardly and double-bagged in a Hefty trash bag for the last 3-1/2 years. I had good intentions... but we moved to California 8 weeks after our wedding, and it seemed like a low priority when we arrived out here and started new jobs, etc. I've been meaning to take care of it but never wanted to spend the money.

This photo isn't very good because the dress and veil are not at all yellow - in fact they're gleaming white. The lighting in our guest room has a weird tone that makes everything look jaundiced.

Also, I realize that with the gown draped on a human-shaped dress form, laying in a box lined with white satin, makes this all look a little.... casket-y. But once you have a good chuckle and get past that idea, this is actually a pretty neat way to store a wedding dress because it allows you to show people what your wedding dress looked like without having to take it out of the box.

It was the perfect Valentine's gift because clearly I wasn't about to spend my own money on wedding gown preservation anytime soon!

Very pretty (once you get past the casket, I agree). You were such a beautiful bride.
