Our holiday plans

We had to make a touch decision between coming back to Michigan for the holidays versus staying in San Diego, and ultimately we've decided to stay in SD for Thanksgiving and Christmas with hopes of visiting Michigan during a less busy, non-holiday part of 2010.

Our trips to Michigan are usually pretty hectic, as we have to visit both the upper and lower peninsulas. We normally fly into Chicago, drive six hours to the UP and stay there for a few days, then drive seven hours south to Muskegon for a few days, and then another three hours to Chicago to catch our return flight. That travel schedule was pretty insane before having a baby; now, Isabelle is still at an age where it would be harder to travel with her considering how many hours of time she'd spent trapped on my lap on the airplane and trapped in her car seat on the road (let's just stay she does NOT like to be restrained).

Between that and the expense of buying plane tickets, possibly a hotel room for one night in Chicago, and our rental car, we decided it would be easier to have our families visit us this year. So my parents will come out the week of Thanksgiving, Jason's mom will come out around Christmas, and my sister is planning to visit in late December.

It was a tough decision because not going back to Michigan means there are many friends that we won't get to see; particularly friends we haven't seen since before Isabelle was born.

As always, we welcome guests who want to escape from Michigan's long winter for a sunny getaway in San Diego!

I am officially the worst friend...considering that I haven't yet met your beautiful baby, and she is ALMOST ONE! But, seriously...luring people with the promise of a sweet baby AND nice weather...you don't play fair!

I can imagine it was a very hard decision. Just know that "having to come and visit you in San Diego" is one of the worst things you could ever make me do!:)

Maybe this means I will have to get my Web cam figured out so I can say HI to Isabelle "in person".
