On this date three years ago, Jason and I were married!
Typically this statement would be followed by a joke, such as “it feels more like 10 (long) years” and “it’s amazing I’ve put up with him for this long.” But for us, being married has never felt much different than when we were not married. We are best friends who enjoy each other’s company; we didn’t fight then and we don’t fight now.
We see a lot less of each other these days thanks to Jason’s insane travel schedule, but after living six hours apart when he was in grad school and only seeing each other once a month, it’s still no big deal for us to go three or four days without seeing each other.
It also goes without saying that our lives have changed completely since having a baby. We’re no longer the carefree couple who can spontaneously fly up to San Francisco for a weekend, and our weekly date nights are on hiatus. But it’s been fun learning how to be parents together. And the fact that Jason is a good father makes me even more proud to be married to him.
By the way, we are not doing anything special to celebrate our anniversary. We are both leaving work by 5:00 and just hanging out as a family. (And ordering take-out, naturally, so neither one of us is forced to cook).
It will be interesting to see what the next three years bring!

Happy anniversary! I always remember your anniversary because it's Mom's birthday too. I can't believe it's been three years already.
Happy Anniversary!
You two have had lots of adventures the past three years.
I still remember your wedding and all the mischief I got myself into! [showing you a flower with a little something special, posing with the bust of Doyle etc.]
Oh, and then there was the pure happiness for you and Jason:)
Congrats!
Happy Anniversary a day late! It does not seem like that very special day was 3 years ago already. Time is going way too fast. And now we are married with kids...who would have thought...
