Spring Break '09

I had a mini spring break vacation of my own over the last several days, as I took a four-day weekend to hang out with my sister (who flew in from Michigan) and my friend Brooke (who came from North Carolina).

We fit in a lot of activities as well as some much-needed down time. Thursday night was a lot of fun because my old college friend Bill C. was in San Diego with his girlfriend and two of their friends who also happened to be visiting from Michigan! We met downtown in the Gaslamp district to go bar-hopping, tell old stories, and catch up with each other.

Jason also had Friday off, which allowed us girls to sleep in a little before going out for a late breakfast and taking a leisurely walk along the ocean. That evening we went to my favorite Italian restaurant for dinner, followed by drinks and dessert at a fairly new wine bar in Encinitas.

And Saturday we did our part to stimulate the economy at the Carlsbad outlet mall. My favorite deal was at the Reebok store, where we realized all shoes were “buy one get one ½ off” or “buy two pairs get one free.” Coincidentally, all three of us had been talking about our need for new workout shoes, so we each bought a pair and split the bill into thirds. I also found some great shoes at the Bass outlet; one pair for work and one for fun!

We even managed to fit in a Project Runway marathon over the course of three days, watching all of season 4. I think I’ve created fans out of both Brooke and Jess!
