Solids!

Isabelle passed a new milestone on Sunday – trying her first “solid” food in the form of rice cereal. We strapped her into her new highchair, which dwarfed her, and fed her the first spoonful. The look on her face was so funny – she wasn’t quite sure what to make of the spoon or the texture. But it didn’t take long for her to demand more, and soon she had finished almost the entire bowl.

I can tell she’s impatient with the process – spoon feeding doesn’t give quite the instant gratification that bottle feeding does, since there is a slight pause between each spoonful. But we were pleasantly surprised at how easily she took to eating off the spoon. Hopefully this means she’ll be a good eater once she starts trying exotic new foods like strained peas and carrots.

By the way, Isabelle had a routine check-up on Friday so she could get her next set of vaccinations, and at 4-1/2 months old she’s now 25-1/2 inches long (the 90th percentile for her height) and 14.30 pounds (around the 70th percentile for weight).

Holy cow ... look at how big she is now! She's changed so much since we were there in early February. She is cuter every time I see a picture of her.
