T Minus 5 Days...until I must reenter the work force

Sigh... my maternity leave is coming to an end. I am going back to work on Tuesday and I'm sure by the end of the week it will feel like I never left in the first place.

The good news is, although I will continue working full-time, I'm going to split my time between home and the office. I'll be working from home Mondays and Fridays and on-site at the office Tuesday through Thursday. This is a great arrangement because it means Isabelle only has to go to daycare three days a week, which not only saves us money but allows her to spend more time with her momma.

Our friends Smitty (Amy) and Shaphan are flying out here today and staying until Monday, so we'll have a fun weekend before the hectic schedule begins next week! In a stroke of brilliant timing, Jason will be in New York Monday - Thursday next week...which means I get to juggle the following all on my own: a) get myself and Isabelle ready and fed and out the door on time; b) drop Isabelle off at daycare and force a smile on my face when she starts sobbing after I hand her to Annie; c) battle traffic on the 5 freeway en route to the office; d) be a brilliant superstar at work; e) pick Isabelle up from daycare before 5:30; f) play with the baby, feed her, bathe her, put her to bed; g) oh yeah, I should eat dinner; h) collapse on the couch. Repeat the next day.

There is a bright side to going back to work - I get to shop for new work clothes! After wearing flowy maternity clothes for most of 2008, I'm eager to buy some trendy new outfits. Smitty said she wants to shop while she's here this weekend, and I am completely on board with that idea! I've got some gift cards from Christmas burning a hole in my pocket...

Good luck! You'll get into the swing of things soon enough! I'll be thinking of you. What time does Isabelle usually go down for the night? I owe you a phone call.
