Pampered from head to toe

Jason surprised me last night by telling me that he booked me a spa package for this afternoon as my gift for "birthing our child." I enjoyed an hour-long full body massage, a manicure, and a pedicure.

The manicure/pedicure was an interesting experience... the nail technician was really nice, and I pegged her for a "hippie" as soon as I walked in the room. Sure enough, she treated me to a waterless pedicure because it's better for the environment - she said traditional nail salons waste too much water with their foot baths. She also used all organic products, from the nail polish remover to the sugar scrubs and essential oils (she used warm wet washclothes to remove the products). Even the nail polish was chemical-free and vegan! I'm hoping it lasts more than 3 days before chipping :-)

The woman also teaches yoga and invited me to one of her classes. And as I was leaving she told me she really liked my bag because it's not leather. I had to laugh, though, because I saw her leave the salon as I was getting into my car and she drove away in a Ford Explorer. I guess it's a smaller SUV than some, but you think she'd be driving a hybrid or something that doesn't guzzle so much gas.

The best part of the package was definitely the massage - I had no idea just how much I needed it! It was incredible...

Aaaaahhhh. Sounds relaxing. Hey, we'll have to get pedicures again when we visit. I wonder if Isabelle would be interested?!
