A busy week

Slowly but surely life is getting back to normal and we're not so tied to the house - I can drive again, which makes a huge difference, and I've been taking Isabelle for walks in the neighborhood so I can start becoming active again.

Friday we took Isabelle for her second pediatric check-up and she passed with flying colors - she's regained (and exceeded) her birth weight. Just as a precaution, our doctor referred us to a pediatric orthopedic surgeon to have her hips checked in December - apparently babies who are born breech are at a higher risk for hip dysplasia, which she said is easily treatable. You can definitely tell she was breech because her legs fold outward like a little frog's and she always holds them raised in the air (they'll straighten with time).

Saturday we ventured into downtown Encinitas for a late breakfast, and afterward visited a local nursery. Jason's mom decided to buy us some house plants rather than send flowers to the hospital, so I picked out two "polka-dot plants" that are non-toxic and easy to take care of (I have a tendency to kill plants).

Sunday Margaret and I went to the movies and saw "Australia." I didn't know a lot about the movie beforehand, but figured it would be decent because I like Baz Luhrman's other movies. The movie was excellent - I highly recommend! And ladies, Hugh Jackman is HOT - pay close attention to his shirtless scenes :-)

Jason went back to work Monday after the long holiday weekend and since then I've been taking care of Isabelle - which does not include very much sleep! - and catching up on lots of odds and ends, like submitting my short term disability and California Paid Family Leave paperwork so I still get a paycheck! Tomorrow my goal is to start calling around to local childcare providers so we have daycare for Isabelle once I go back to work...

We see and treat lots of his displaysia - very treatable! Are they sending you to a pediatric orthopaedic physician? I suggest it:)
