Caffeine!

Yesterday my co-worker stopped by our hospital room to visit, and she brought along the department camera. She happened to catch me drinking my first real cup of coffee since getting pregnant... the first of many, many, many cups of coffee to come over the next few months! And yes, it tasted REALLY good after the long night we'd had.

Another co-worker gave me a bottle of wine to enjoy post-pregnancy, but I have a feeling it will be a while before I uncork it. I think 1/2 glass would knock me out cold!

Oh man, no coffee for nine months!? I don't know if I could do that...I enjoy my Starbucks lattes way too much! : ) And that means no pop either, huh? But you were not a big pop drinker anyhow, were you?

The list of items that are off-limits during pregnancy is huge, but over the years caffeine has risen to the top of the list - they drill "no smoking, no alcohol, no caffeine" into your head (and obviously no drugs, ha ha). I wasn't 100% caffeine-free; I still ate chocolate, which contains some caffeine, and every once in a while if I had a super early morning I'd have small cup of half-decaf / half-regular coffee. You just have to be smart about it - having some coffee on occasion is no big deal, it's the daily consumption of lots of coffee, soda, tea, etc. that they are concerned about.
