Baby's first concert

Jason and I went to the John Mayer concert last night at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheater (gotta love corporate sponsorships!). The concert was down near the border, about 45 miles away, so we missed the opening act…but it wasn’t anyone I’d ever heard of, so I didn’t care. Colbie Caillat was the next act – I’m only familiar with her two popular singles from the last year, so I didn’t really have any expectations. She was pretty good, although her mellow style of music seems like it would be well-suited for a smaller, more intimate venue.

John Mayer played for about two hours, and he is an excellent live performer. I think people tend to forget that he’s not just a singer-songwriter, but an amazing guitar player. He performed a sweet cover of “Crossroads” by Cream.

We got home around 12:30 a.m., and I had to be up at 5:30 for an early morning meeting south of town. To top it all off, I’ve got an HCC board meeting tonight until 8:00. I’ll be ready to sleep in come Saturday!
