Almost three years ago, an employee in our health system was hiking through Glacier National Park with his daughter, when they were savagely attacked by a grizzly bear. The father got the worst of it, and the fact that he survived is miraculous.
A journalist from the Los Angeles Times interviewed him and chronicled the attack - and his recovery process - in a two-part series that ran in the L.A. Times last summer. I found out earlier this week that the journalist was a runner up for the Pulitzer Prize for the grizzly bear feature.
The articles are worth reading - the story is inspirational and the writing is very good. You can check them out here:

Amazing writing. Thanks for sharing. Harborview is a great trauma center.
The irony is that I posted bear-related stories today on my blog. But they are quite a bit "lighter." I feel a little guilty now.
I wouldn't feel guilty... I've seen that dancing bear video you posted and think it's great. Even animals that can pose a danger to humans can be cute!
Can't wait to ready them. Will let you know what I think....they sound very interesting. Mom
