Our Trip Home: Part 1

On Monday night, Jason and I arrived back in San Diego after spending 10 days in Michigan. We spent the first four days of our trip in the U.P., after arriving in Chicago in the wee hours of December 21 and driving about six hours to Three Lakes the next day.

Upon our arrival at my mom's house on Saturday night, we had pasties for dinner (eating Lawry's pasties was definitely on our checklist for "things to do in the U.P."). Sunday night, Jason and I met Cindy and Brooke at the Congress for pizza and beer (Congress pizza was also on the checklist). See the photo of the four of us, happily stuffed:

On Monday, Christmas Eve, we spent time with my mom's side of the family during my aunt Debbie's annual soup, sandwich, and dessert buffet. After eating too much (again), we traveled back to Three Lakes to spend time with my dad's side of the family, at my grandma's annual Christmas Eve gathering.

Christmas day was very relaxing. We opened gifts at my mom's house and spent time with my dad before he left for work, and the rest of the day we watched episodes of "House" and played Pictionary and Cranium.

On Wednesday we packed up the car and drove about seven hours south, to Muskegon, for the second leg of our journey...
