A "Wild" Afternoon

Jason's friend Kristin visited us this weekend from Minneapolis, and she asked us to be her tour guides for San Diego.

Yesterday we visited the Wild Animal Park in Escondido, which is a large nature preserve where animals - including giraffes, rhinos, antelopes, tigers, gorillas, and elephants - roam free in large spaces similar to their natural habitat. We took a 30-minute tram ride through the areas that are not reachable by foot, and saw a lot of the animals up close (very "Jurassic Park"). The funniest part of the day was when we saw a rhinoceros chasing a giraffe down a hill.

The video clip below shows one of the elephants enjoying her feeding time...

Other highlights from our weekend included sushi at Ra, a trendy downtown restaurant where I mastered the art of eating with chopsticks. And Saturday we ended our evening with dessert at Extraordinary Desserts (I had the banana cream tart).
