The person behind the desk gave me a big box that said "Sony Vaio" all over it. Oh, and the words "notebook computer."
Sure enough, it turned out to be a beautiful white and silver wide-screen Vaio. But the best part of the story is not that I got a laptop, which is something I've needed for a very long time, but rather how Jason acquired it.
He is a Marriott Rewards member, which means we get points every time we stay in a Marriott-owned hotel. Jason has been saving his points for several years with the intention of trading them in someday for a plasma TV. But instead, he cashed in his 180,000-ish points and used them to surprise his darling wife.
So essentially I got a brand new laptop for free.... but does this mean I owe Jason a plasma TV?
