Happy Mother's Day!

Today was my first full day back from a four-day trip to North Carolina, where I visited my friend Brooke, her boyfriend Eric, and their daughter Kirra who will be two weeks old tomorrow:

Like a lot of brand new parents Brooke was adapting to the strange new schedule of constant feedings and little sleep, so needless to say we didn't leave the house much - but I was more than okay with that. We got to sit around and catch up while drinking coffee, watching movies, and reading books and trashy magazines. And after getting about two hours of sleep total Tuesday night during my overnight flight to North Carolina, I crashed hard Wednesday night and slept 12-1/2 hours! It felt AMAZING to have no reason to get up the next morning!

Of course I missed Isabelle and Jason, so it was nice to get back to San Diego last night and meet them for dinner at Pei Wei. And while today wasn't a particularly exciting day - unpacking, laundry, running errands - Isabelle proved just how thoughtful she is at 2-1/2 years old by giving me a box of chocolates and a gift certificate for a massage and facial. I'm sure she helped Jason pick them out!
