Yesterday Jason and I took a four-hour child CPR and first aid class, and left feeling much more prepared in the event of an emergency. We learned about basic child safety ranging from choking to poisonings to drownings, and got to practice both infant and child CPR on tiny little mannequins.
One thing I learned was the definition of "infant" and "child" when it comes to CPR - for resuscitation purposes, a child is someone 12 months of age or older. I was glad to learn this because previously I wasn't sure, at 18 months, what category Isabelle fell in because the chest compressions are quite different between the two. We also learned how to help an infant versus a child who is choking, as infants do not receive the traditional Heimlich Maneuver.
Jason and I were laughing because I was probably the only non-pregnant woman in the room. I guess all the expectant parents were a little more on the ball than Jason and I were when we were expecting... but better late than never, right?!

I think taking the class at this point in time is just fine. You were still learning how to be parents back when you were preggo and first getting used to her.
