I was looking forward to a little down time following last week's hectic schedule, and happily enjoyed a very nice weekend with the family.
Having worked a lot of overtime last week, I left work at 4:00 Friday and stopped at the library on the way home to pick up the book that I'd had on hold - I was drooling over the idea of reading a new book while taking a hot bath later that evening, which was every bit as relaxing as I'd hoped.
After sleeping in Saturday morning I got my hair cut, then went to lunch with Jason and Isabelle. We played on a blanket outside that afternoon before Jason and I had a date night - a leisurely dinner at a nice restaurant in Encinitas followed by a movie.
Sunday was equally as nice, particularly because the weather was gorgeous. Jason and I went downtown for breakfast and dined outdoors at Saint Tropez, and later that afternoon I took Isabelle to the park - she had a blast swinging and going down the slide on my lap. We finished off the afternoon with a quick trip to the beach, where Isabelle enjoyed squishing her bare feet in the wet sand and watching the noisy seagulls flying overhead.
And the perfect way to end the weekend was a nice, long phone conversation with a good friend that I hadn't talked to in a while... sometimes it's the little things that are the most enjoyable!

The only thing missing is chocolate! I was sure that's where this post was going!
