Our fun filled week

My brother and sister took a red-eye back to Michigan last night after visiting for a week - and Isabelle was sure sorry to see her new best friends leave.

After they arrived last weekend, my sister and I went kayaking in La Jolla, which was a lot of fun - especially considering I didn't get sunburned this time. When I went kayaking with some friends in June of 2008, I had carefully applied my sunscreen without realizing it wasn't waterproof. Oops!

Monday night after work, I took them shopping at the outlet mall in Carlsbad. Jessi and each each found a couple of cheap tops at the Banana Republic factory store, and I was happy to find a plum-colored leather tote for only $24 at the Bass outlet. I've wanted a purple bag for a while but hadn't found one that I was willing to spend the money on...

On Wednesday, Jason took my brother to the San Diego Chargers training camp, which was open to the public for a couple of hours during the evening. They said it was fun to watch, despite having to wait in line for 40 minutes for hot dogs at the concession stand.

And on Friday night, Jason took my brother and sister to a Padres baseball game - which the Padres ended up winning at the very last minute.

Throughout the week we hung out a lot, and Isabelle enjoying having new playmates to fawn over her. I'm not sure what she's going to do when she grows up and realizes that she won't have adoring fans following her everywhere she goes...

Kayaking looks awesome! I'm impressed you took your camera. It must have been fairly dry?

Actually, we were soaked, but my sister really wanted her camera so she carried the camera in a ziploc bag stuffed into her life jacket. Whenever we came to a "stop" (floating in place on large waves) she'd carefully pull out the camera and snap a few photos before zipping it back into the plastic bag... somehow she managed not to drop it in the ocean!
