Holiday weekend

Our three-day weekend was too nice – I wasn’t ready to go back to work today!

Saturday was especially fun because we had lunch with Chris Sligh, an old college friend of mine who was in town for his brother’s graduation from San Diego State. It was great to catch up with him since I haven’t seen him since my wedding!

Later that afternoon we paid a little visit to the mall. And even though Isabelle ended up being out-and-about with us for nearly 8 hours on Saturday, she was a champ. Now that she’s no longer in the newborn stage and not needing to eat as frequently, it’s much easier to take her along on adventures (and other less fun activities like grocery shopping).

Sunday started off amazing because I slept until 10:00! Yet later that afternoon, while Isabelle napped and Jason was at the gym, I STILL fell asleep reading. I chalk it up to the fact that Isabelle and I were both getting over colds and needed the sleep!

Yesterday (Memorial Day) we had brunch at our favorite diner in downtown Encinitas and then took a leisurely walk through the neighborhood that runs parallel to the ocean.

We had some much needed “family time” this weekend, which was all the more enjoyable considering how much Jason has been out of town recently (and will be out of town for two more days starting tomorrow). Isabelle wasn’t sure what to make of spending so much time with BOTH parents – but I think she enjoyed it just as much as we did :-)

Isn't it funny how they really do respond to having both mom and dad around. Now that Jack is older you can tell that he gets so excited when Dave and I are both home. Probably because it is so rare with our work schedules! He is going to love my 12 week leave where we have 2 family days a week!!! I can't wait.
