An award-winning night

As previously mentioned, I'm on the board of directors for a health care marketing and communications organization. Our annual awards dinner was last night, which means that my schedule is about to slow down a bit as the last 6-8 weeks have been filled with lots of extra meetings on evenings and weekends as we planned the event.

Our membership includes professionals who specialize in marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design, and web design, and who represent hospitals, biotech companies, health plans, and other health-related agencies. At the annual awards dinner, we honor the "best of the best" in health care marketing, which means people submit entries for what they consider to be their best work in a variety of categories.

We received 160 entries this year, and about 120 people attended last night's dinner. I won a silver award for the project I submitted - a series of brochures for our division of neurology, which included a large brochure outlining the capabilities of our neurology team as a whole, with matching supplemental brochures for individual programs in epilepsy, headache, and stroke prevention.

Luckily the event was successful, and a lot of fun - particularly the cocktail hour, as I got to see a lot of my co-workers from other campuses for the first time since I've been back from maternity leave.

I'm on the board again for 2009, this time as treasurer. (Treasurer!) I'm sooo not a numbers person, but then again everyone on the board is a marcomm person, which means none of us were finance majors in college...

Congrats! Is this the award that you stayed up putting together the first night we were visiting last month? Nice job!
