Fellow Michiganders

A couple of months ago, a new employee joined our marketing team at the corporate office. I learned she was from Michigan, so we started chatting and realized what a small world it is. She and her husband are our age and both went to Michigan State at the same time as Jason, and her husband grew up in Baraga - a small town in the UP only 30 minutes from where I grew up!

We had them over for dinner on Tuesday... it was nice to interact with other adults after hanging out with Isabelle all day, and it was fun to swap Michigan stories and enjoy a few drinks. Somehow in between Isabelle's occasional 30-minute naps I was able to pull together spinach-stuffed chicken, roasted red potatoes with artichokes and feta, and steamed green beans - without burning anything! :-)

Wow! Small world! I met someone tonight who lives in Encinitas. She was at the Amway for a conference. I said I'll be saying hello to her city soon.

Ah...isn't grown up time so nice. Glad to hear that you meet a nice new couple! Dave and I always joke when we go out with a new couple that it feels like we are dating again. "Do you think they'll like us?"
