Our new wheels :-)

Imagine my surprise when I came home earlier this week to find a giant box containing a baby stroller and car seat on our front doorstep - a gift from my aunt Regina and uncle Mike.* And how funny that it's actually ours!

The two came together as a set because we registered for a "travel system" that includes a lightweight stroller and a newborn car seat that can be used in our car but also locks into the stroller. When the baby eventually outgrows the car seat, it can sit in the stroller in an upright position.

It took two people with Master's degrees to assemble the darn thing, but we managed to get all four wheels on and the fold/collapse mechanism seems to work just fine. Have I figured out how to get the car seat onto the base that stays in the car, or locked into the stroller itself? Ummm, no. And am I confused by all the harnesses that strap the baby in? Yup. But we've got three months to figure it out...

*Correction: I just found out the car seat and stroller are a family gift from the aunts and uncles on my mom's side: Regina, Mike, Teresa, Craig, Gerri and Bob and their kids, and Deb and Steven ("Uncle Brother"). THANKS so much, everyone!!! We really appreciate the gift!

If you don't have one, invest in a stuffed animal. Dave and I practiced a lot with a "build-a-bear" that he got me years ago!

I like 'em! Baby Mash is going to be riding in style!

And I completely undertand about the confusion with the harnesses and straps. When my nieces and nephew were young, it seemed impossible to get them strapped into the crazy things!

At least these wheels don't require a car payment:)

Sorry for the confusion but the gift is actually from your Aunt Regina, me, Aunt Teresa and Uncle Craig, Aunt Jeri, Uncle Bob and the kids and Aunt Deb and Uncle Brother. I screwed up when I ordered on the web site and missed the gift note section. Apparently I am not a seasoned "online" shopper. We are glad that you guys like it.
